Summer in Lake Placid – Customize your Lake Placid summer vacation

During the winter, many people focus on the alpine skiing at Whiteface Mountain. However, located in the heart of the Adirondacks, Lake Placid is a community offering a wide-range of summer activities, from cultural to outdoor adventure. The lake for which the area is named is a phenomenal venue for boating, fishing, swimming and more. Its massive 2,173 acres averages a depth of 52 feet with a maximum depth of 151 feet. Because it’s spring fed and replenishes itself about every three days, it’s one of the cleanest lakes in North America.

Over at Whiteface Mountain, the fifth-highest point in New York, take the Cloudsplitter Gondola or car via a toll road to the top and experience a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The Whiteface Mountain Bike Park offers more than 25 trials totaling 2,476 vertical feet, the most in the east, with something suitable for all abilities, from beginner to advanced.
