Summer in Heavenly – Customize your Heavenly summer vacation
Located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, sitting on the California and Nevada border, is a mountain resort that truly embodies its name.
Between the Desolation Wilderness, the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, and Lake Tahoe itself, Heavenly is a hub for endless mountain activities and water sports. Experience the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe firsthand while water skiing or kayaking. Or choose to hike, bike, backpack or rock climb your way around the 150-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. If you’re looking for a rush, try the Heavenly Flyer. Located at Adventure Peak at the top of the Heavenly Gondola, the Heavenly Flyer is the longest zip rider in the continental U.S. at approximately 3,300 feet in length.
If golf is your thing, there are an abundance of options nearby. Flanked by the Tahoe National Forest and fields of wild flowers only found at higher elevations, Tahoe golf courses are some of the most beautiful in the country and house the magnificent pine trees for which the area is known. And, to make things more interesting, you’ll have to try even harder to keep your eye on the ball instead of on the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
Lake Tahoe golf courses are known for their beauty - nestled in the majestic splendor of the Tahoe National Forest, surrounded by imposing, towering pines, flanked by spectacular fields of wildflowers, tucked at the base of awe-inspiring snow capped mountains or overlooking the stunning beauty of Lake Tahoe, you'll find a course to match your skill.
Your Heavenly summer vacation
No matter where you find yourself around Heavenly, the scenery remains unmatched. However, there are many options for taking in different views of this breathtaking landscape. The Heavenly Scenic Gondola will transport you on a 12-minute, 2.4 mile ride where you’ll arrive at an observation platform known as The Deck. At 9,123 feet, you’ll have unobstructed views of the Desolation Wilderness, Carson Valley, and of course, Lake Tahoe. For the best vantage point, take hot air balloon rides around the lake. Or, if you’d like to stay a little closer to the earth, book a two-hour cruise to Emerald Bay or try a dinner and dancing night cruise instead.
Accessibility is one of Heavenly’s strong suits. With the Reno-Tahoe International Airport being within an hour’s drive and the Sacramento International Airport within two hours, Heavenly is ideal for those looking for convenience and the amenities that may not be as readily available in other mountain resorts.
In Heavenly, the party only just begins when the sun goes down. A handful of top-quality casinos populate this mountain resort as do world-class bars and restaurants. No matter when you visit, you’re sure to come across an array of nightlife options, as Heavenly has a reputation for bringing in some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. Open from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. during the summer months, The Shops at Heavenly Village, located at the base of the Heavenly Gondola, will satisfy all your shopping needs.

We arrived on Boxing Day (Dec 26 in the U.S. of A) evening. Checked just in time for night skiing at Squaw. Maybe I'm spoiled by the excellent night skiing in Vancouver (I'm speaking of last season, not this on folks...), but I wasn't really impressed by the cattle call lift routine you're subjected to if you ski all the way down the mountain.
